Go Back To Where You Came From

I have decided to write this blog like a idiot That means I have to think like Andrew Bolt and Alan Jones for about ten minutes. Trust me, it is making me sick just contemplating it.

These nuts’ hit the airwaves every day demanding refugees go back to where they came from and the country is full. Conversely they are wanting to greet CO2 production with big hugs and warm kisses. As with all confused middle aged shock jocks  with daddy issues (ie all of them), they have the two mixed up.

You see, while the country has room for more people, the world has run out of room for man made CO2.

Here is an analogy. Say you have a bathtub. The bathtub allows for a certain amount of its contents to naturally break down over a period of time through its sink hole. The tap is also running into the bath. That is because naturally a certain amount of CO2 is returned to the tub in a consistent and stable life cycle.

All good.

Now what we have been doing is adding buckets of CO2 also into the tub. The tub quite happily was able to cycle the new natural CO2 from the ‘tap’ balancing it out quite well with the tubs ability to process it and send it out into the cycle (the sink hole). In fact this cycle stayed at around 280 parts per million for a million years or so.

But in the last 100 years, things have changed. The tub continues to hold a finite amount of CO2. It continues to be able to process an amount of that CO2. And while that has been going on, we have been pouring buckets of CO2 into the mix. CO2 that exceeds the capacity of the tub to empty it.

And so what has happened is this. After 1 million years at a relatively stable CO2 content in the atmosphere, in just 100 years, man has taken it from 280 ppm to 380 ppm.

Allow me to repeat that. After 1 million years at a stable 280, due to industrialisation, man has lifted that figure by 3o odd percent.

So what say the jocks. Whoopie do! Its natural.

No fellas. It stopped being natural when we raised it from 280 to 380. For one million years it was natural. The last 100 or so has been nature and man.

So what’s the problem? Can we not just slow down some? Give the planet a little breathing room?

Well yes we can. All we need to do is give the planet a little time.

Maybe 30,000 – 40,000 years or so. Very small amount of time relative to the planet.

What will happen if we do not address this? Simple. The bath will overflow.

In reality, we should be opening the doors to refugees and closing the doors to CO2.
