It’s not what is IN the news that is important. It is what is NOT in the news!

When I first began my foray into the visual arts, I became fascinated in artists that reverse draw.
That is, instead of drawing an object, you draw everything BUT the object. Well you don’t even draw. You kind of shade it out. For example this is NOT a drawing of Albert Einstein.
Okay. It LOOKS like Albert, but it is not. In fact, if you really examine it, its a picture of where Albert is not. The artist uses a medium on all the areas of shadow and leaves the paper blank where Albert actually is. If you like, its like a film negative.
Of course a film negative is a little different as it is projected to produce the result, but the same thing is happening in your brain when you see a picture such as the one above of Albert which is in fact a picture of everything Albert is not.
Speaking of nots. One should really pay more attention to what is not in the news. For example what is not in the news is the MDB. What is not in the news is the governments pokie reform bill. What is not in the news is talk of Craig Thompson and hookers. What is not in the news is news that coal mines are going under. What is not in the news is high unemployment figures. What is not in the news is opposition to the carbon tax by anyone other then Clive Palmer.
Sometimes you need to stop and think about what is in the news. And what is not in the news.
